Two weeks of Texas for the whole family: dinosaur tracks at Dinosaur Valley State Park, mammoths in Waco, bats under the Congress Avenue Bridge in Austin, caverns, a water park and roller coasters around San Antonio. On the coast: the Texas State Aquarium, a walk-on aircraft carrier and the beaches of Padre Island and Galveston, finishing at Space Center Houston.

Shorter driving days, long visits and a full day for theme parks – ideal for the summer holidays, but it is hot: start early and stay indoors at midday.
